Immersive Album is my full-screen photo library browser for iPhone and iPad. Swipe up or down to explore a stable random sequence, then swipe left or right to move through nearby moments by capture time. It is designed for the days when you want to revisit your photographs but do not have a particular date or album in mind.

A different starting point for your photo library

Searching a library works well when you know what you want. Rediscovery starts from a different question: what have I forgotten is here?

Immersive Album uses the photo itself as the main screen. There are no folders to build and no new social feed to populate. The random browsing path gives you a way into your existing library; browsing by capture time lets you explore what happened around a moment that catches your attention.

For example, a photograph from an old trip might appear during random browsing. Instead of leaving that image to search for the trip manually, you can move through neighboring moments by capture time. That is the relationship between the app's two swipe directions.

How the swipe directions work

Gesture What it does When to use it
Up or down Explore and revisit a stable random sequence You want to discover a forgotten image
Left or right Move through nearby moments by capture time You want the context around an image
Pinch or double-tap a photo Zoom into the photograph You want a closer look at a detail

The random journey is stable enough to let you go back to something you just saw. You do not have to accept losing an image simply because you swiped past it.

A gentle first browsing session

Start by granting access to the photos you want the app to use. Spend a few minutes browsing without trying to organize the entire library. When a photograph catches your attention, zoom in or explore its neighbors in time. Add a favorite if you would like to keep track of it, or share it directly.

The app supports photos, Live Photos, videos, and HDR images. Available capture dates and embedded places can provide context. Video controls let you play, pause, or scrub rather than treating every item as a still image.

Favorites, dislikes, and filters

Favorites sync with Favorites in Apple Photos. Dislikes and browsing preferences remain on the current device. This distinction matters if you use the same library in more than one place: a favorite is a system Photos action, while a dislike is an app-local preference.

Time, reaction, and media-type filters help narrow a browsing session. All advanced filters can be unlocked with a one-time purchase, without a subscription. Check the app for the current free and paid filter choices.

Deletion involves both an in-app warning and iOS system confirmation. Browsing a memory and deciding to remove it are separate actions.

Common questions

Does Immersive Album upload my library? Your media is not uploaded to a developer server. The app accesses the library through Apple PhotoKit. Apple system geocoding may convert embedded coordinates into place names.

Is it a photo backup service? No backup service is offered by this app. Its purpose is browsing and working with your existing library.

What can I do with a rediscovered photo? Frame a single image with Immersive Border, or combine several related moments with Immersive Collage.
